High School

There are a wide varieties  of  activities to be involved in while a High School student at South Side. Students are encouraged to take part in state and national academic and fine arts competitions, be involved with our own fine arts program, journalism program, and athletics, and other activities throughout the year.

School Retreat

The year starts with an overnight retreat at Camp Assurance in Georgetown, IL where students participate in adventurous activities, take time to get to know one another and  are challenged by a special speaker from the Word of God.

Spirit Week

During Spirit Week, students participate in different theme days, class competitions, and other fun activities.

Chapel

Every Friday the students attend chapel. Pastors from South Side Baptist Church and other surrounding churches take time out of their schedules to challenge students from the Word of God.

Bible Quiz

Students 4th grade and up will be able to choose between Bible Class and Bible Quiz.  In Bible Quiz, the students memorize passages of Scripture, and then go to competitions against other school to be quizzed on those verses.

Newspaper/Yearbook

The Junior and Senior students write their own newspaper articles and each month, and they are sold for $00.25. Also, they are able to make the school year book using Jostens.

School Play

Every year the speech class is able to participate in the school play which is located in May.

Music

There are opportunities for vocal and instrumental music.
